As the children at WECA celebrate Easter Resurrection this week, we at Carpenter Ministry are making plans to return in June and July to continue the work of helping build the new School. Plans were for the school to be opened for the 2015 school year, however we encountered circumstances that kept that from happening. We expect classes to be up and running for the 2016 school year. We have several teams coming to help with this project.

UPDATE: White Eagle Christian academy Students in New Building

We are pleased to report that the White Eagle Christian Academy on the Rosebud Indian Reservation is now having class in the new building. Also, beginning this year WECA is now K-12. This is very exciting news. This means that no longer will the students be placed back in the public school system. Before when WECA was a K-8 school, the dropout rate was extremely high for those at risk students. Now that these students will be taught and mentored into High School, we believe the success rate for these students will be much greater with them becoming an asset to their community and the Kingdom of God.
It was a blessing to be able to stay at the Rosebud For the months of June and July. However, there is still much work to accomplish at the school. Only one classroom is ready, two offices, bathrooms and portion of Hall. The daycare is complete except for HVAC and will need 2 small bathrooms & kitchenette. There are still 5 classrooms to complete, the teachers room, more Heat & A/C to be installed, tile, sheetrock drop ceilings, girl/boy multi-stall bathrooms, shower/locker rooms. The good news, is we have purchased much of the needed materials (tile, carpet, ceiling tile, etc.). These materials are onsite to complete this project. There will be other purchase needs in the future, to complete this project. We just recieved word that almost all drywall is up. Praise the Lord. |
White Eagle Christian Academy
Below are pictures from our return trip to Mission, SD. in July. On this trip you helped us purchase two 100 gallon water heaters. We also completed much of the Phase 1 drywall. Unfortunately, it will not be complete in time for the September 8, start date. We will travel back in August to take the interior doors, and other items. We have had $16,000,00 dollars given towards the heating and a/c part of Phase 1, which will be about $21,000.00. A Mission group in Virginia has committed to cover the difference. They began work on this project at WECA before we got involved and they will be arriving in September after we leave.
It has been an honor to work with the Rosebud Souix Ministry from Virginia. It still amazes us how God can take this little ministry in Texas and put us with another little ministry in Virginia and connect all of us with a little ministry in South Dakota to build something that will have an impact on the lives of children and their families for Eternity.
We covet your prayers. On our previous trip, we had a blow out because the tires on the trailer had too many miles on them. When this happened it tore up the fender and that will need replacing as well as new tires. We also incurred extra fuel expense because we experienced a diesel fuel leak, which has since been repaired.

Thanks to the team from New Beginnings Church in Spring, Texas, we were able to install 240 sheets of drywall and begin the the process of mudding. We also received a generous donation, which made it possible to purchase 289 sheets of drywall,100 sheets of flooring material, and other supplies and material needed. There is still much to do. We will return in 2 weeks to continue the work on the school. We will keep you up to date as work progresses. Please consider partnering with us in touching the lives of these children, empowering them to succeed and become the men and women they were created to be.

White Eagle Christian Academy Update from 2014

On this trip we were able to complete the rough in wiring of the new facility. After we left another group came in and rough plumbed the building and filled in some of the insulation. There is so much that needs to be done to finish this project. Unfortunately, instead of months to complete, it is running into years.
There seems to be a lack of finances being donated and only a few groups committed to do the work.

MISSION, SOUTH DAKOTA
Although, there is much despair in the lives of many Native Americans who still live on the reservation, there is Hope. Pastor Jack Moore and others from his church Christian Life Fellowship on the Rosebud Reservation work diligently to build relationships with the Lakota Souix. They minister to the needs of the people through bible teaching, provision of food and supplies, education, and love for those who they come in contact with. We were honored while we were in South Dakota, to accompany Pastor Jack to a Rapids City hospital and pray for several families.He is always looking for ways to bless the people.
The dream they have is to change the hopelessness of the people, one CHILD at a time. Once the new facility is built for White Eagle Christian School, they will be able to educate and train these young children to become the leaders of tomorrow. Leaders of integrity, with strong Christ centered values.
We were also blessed to be able to deliver 40 gallons of paint that was donated. Of course, they will need much more than 40 gallons to paint the interior of the school. Besides the electrical work, there is need of insulation. Supplies are less expensive where we live. We would like to be able to purchase the remainder of supplies here. We could then transport the supplies when we return to finish the work we started.
